This wooden box set from Sennelier contains twelve 38ml Extra-Fine Oil sticks, along with a painting knife, cloth, and four charcoal sticks Sennelier Extra Fine Oil sticks are fully compatible with conventional oil colours. They offer artists an exciting and direct drawing & painting medium, with the finish and appearance of traditional oil paint. It extends the artist's freedom of expression, allowing a greater degree of spontaneity, of "expressionism". These colours are of perfect quality: pure pigments are ground into vegetable oils (siccatives), selected for their low degree of yellowing with time. Dilute and blend with turpentine or mineral spirits and cut into and scrape layers of oil colour with palette knives. These oil bars are suited for use on all usual supports for oil colour, such as primed canvas and wood but are also suited for use on artboards and pastel paper. The Oil Stick is a composition of oil paint. A proportion of the oil is substituted with a neutral mineral wax, resulting in the stick appearance.

In 1949, Henri Sennelier started developing a range of artists' quality pastels for the famous cubist Pablo Picasso. Picasso was looking for a pastel with intense colour that could be applied directly and freely to a wide variety of surfaces. As a result, Sennelier created an oil pastel with a soft, creamy quality with all the intensity and vibrancy of conventional oil colours. This collection of 24 Oil Pastels is ideal for depicting landscapes and the natural world. The box features a foam lining for the protection and neat presentation of the pastels. Unlike oil colours, Sennelier oil pastels are made using a unique combination of non-aggressive oils and waxes so they can be used on almost any surface-including paper-without cracking or effecting the substrate. As oil pastels do not ever completely dry and remain heat sensitive, it is recommended that oil pastel works are sealed with an oil pastel fixative. All colours are 100% lightfast.

A proportion of the oil is substituted with a neutral mineral wax, resulting in a pastel-like stick.
