Upright Evergreen with Dense, Year-Round Foliage The Green Mountain Boxwood Cone is a robust, narrow evergreen shrub valued for its dense, dark green leaves and natural conical form. Ideal for creating formal hedges, borders, or focal points, this shrub adapts well to full sun or partial shade and thrives in a variety of soil conditions. Its compact growth habit and evergreen foliage provide year-round structure and privacy. Low-maintenance and deer resistant, the Green Mountain Boxwood Cone brings classic elegance and enduring beauty to landscapes and gardens alike. Planting & Care 1. Planting: To plant the Better Boxwood® Babylon Beauty™, dig a hole three times the width of the root ball and deep enough for the plant to sit level with or slightly above ground. Mix native soil with rich gardening soil for nutrients. If using clay soil, add pine bark mulch for better drainage. Gently separate any bound roots and place the plant in the hole with the top of the root ball level with the soil. Backfill without covering the root ball. This boxwood thrives in well-drained soil and prefers 4-6 hours of morning sunlight. Space plants 3-4 feet apart to allow for natural growth. Protect from strong winter winds. After planting, soak the plant with a hose to hydrate it and settle the soil and mulch. 2. Watering: Add 3 to 4 inches of mulch around your plant to retain moisture, avoiding the root ball to ensure oxygen access. 3. Fertilizing: In early spring, fertilize the plant with a slow-release, balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can result in excessive, weak growth that makes the plant more vulnerable to diseases. 4. Pruning: Babylon Beauty™ has a low spreading growth, making it ideal for mass plantings. Occasional trimming helps maintain its shape and promotes denser foliage, and it’s best to prune in late winter or early spring before new growth.
