Product information for Mahota Textiles Sharon Blanket
The Sharon Blanket by Mahota Textiles offers more than warmth - it brings cultural history into your home. A versatile piece with two distinct sides, its design draws inspiration from Iabiso̱waꞌ ishtalakchiꞌ (garters) - beaded bands worn below the knee by Chickasaw men in the 18th and 19th centuries. Likely crafted by a Potawatomi artist or a Great Lakes tribe artist, the pattern is reimagined as an ascending motif in tribute to a dear friend of the Potawatomi Tribe. Crafted from 100% chemical-free cotton, it's soft, durable, and effortlessly drapes over a bed, sofa, or chair. Design inspired by an image found in CHIKASHA: The Chickasaw Collection at the National Museum of the American Indian, Lokosh (Joshua D. Hinson), published by Chickasaw Press.
