Product information for Spyderco Reveal 18 Cobol Stainless Steel
Designed by Paul Alexander-well known for his distinctive "techno-primitive" design style-the COBOL is a bold follow-up to his NAND™, combining futuristic aesthetics with mechanical simplicity. This non-locking folder introduces a dramatic visual twist with an upswept blade that blends elements of a Japanese tanto and Americanized katana tip. Crafted from premium M390 stainless steel, the blade features a saber grind that transitions into a flat-ground, faceted point for precise, versatile cutting. At the spine, an extended tail allows for one-handed opening reminiscent of a straight razor. The handle is constructed from solid titanium scales with built-in spring arms and seated ball bearings, forming Alexander's unique variation of the Ball Joint Non-Locking Mechanism. When open, the ball bearings index into holes on either side of the blade, securing it in place with added control provided by a finger choil and pressure on the tail. Fully ambidextrous, the COBOL also features a reversible deep-carry wire clip for discreet tip-up carry on either side. It's a sleek, functional fusion of tradition and innovation.
