Early 1900s match box holder / ashtray and is the perfect addition to any advertising, match strike, or barware collection. Vitreous china restaurant ware advertising the widely recognized red raven and catchphrase "Ask the Man" promoting an aperient water purported to cure hangovers. Backstamp of "Warwick China" of Wheeling, WV dates this piece to 1912 - 1920. Excellent antique condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing; underglaze specks and minor gilt loss.

Pair of whimsical antique porcelain match strikes / ashtrays featuring the Queen of Hearts and King of Spades. Each vesta has a leaning match keeper with a ridged strike area on the side and a playing card deck ashtray. Mark en verso believed to be the incised sun logo of German porcelain fabricator Gebrüder Heubach. The mark dates the piece to between 1882 and 1915.Good antique condition; vibrant colors, no cracks. Loss of gilt, crazing in one ashtray, and a tiny edge chip on the other.

Handpainted porcelain match box keeper w/ attached ashtray. Floral sprays adorn the matchbox tower & tray edges. Holds a small box of wood matches in center well with open sides allowing the match to be struck. Attached tray serves as a repository for burnt matches and cigarette ash. Signed by the artist en verso, "Seymour Gardner" (?). No maker's marks but believed to be from the 1920s.. Tiny chip and minor vertical crack in opening; neither detracts from appearance or function.

Hand-painted match holder / ashtray signed and dated "M. B. Knowlton, 1906".The work of well-known artist, Maud Briggs Knowlton,(1870-1956) china painter, recognized watercolorist, one of first female Directors of a major American art museum. Piece features exquisite painting of Dutch girl in traditional clothing standing canal-side; scene continues round the sides to other face showing a windmill along the same waterway.Excellent condition, vibrant colors; photo reflections are not flaws.
