    Strategic Internal Communication A Practitioner’s ...

What is internal communication? What role does it play in contemporary organizations? What are the consequences of malfunctioning internal communication? There are many aspects of internal communication – work related social formal informal vertical horizontal between coworkers between coworkers and managers communication before and under organizational changes internal crisis communications and so forth. We think of different forms of communication channels such as intranet staff magazines electronic billboards and internal television. This book interconnects these different parts and emphasizes the strategic value and importance of internal communication. We understand internal communication as an unused capital with a large potential for organizational success. Further we understand internal communication as a basic prerequisite of organizations that is performed by all members of an organization – managers coworkers and communication professionals. Traditionally there has been too much emphasis on the work and function of communication professionals when internal communication is discussed but most of the communication value is actually produced by managers and coworkers. However communication professionals are the communication experts in organizations that strategically facilitate the organization. This book is based on a cooperation between Susanne Dahlman senior communication consultant and Mats Heide Professor in Strategic Communication at Lund University. Hence this book has a unique approach that covers both practical and academic aspects of internal communication. This book is a response to the demand for a book that covers the strategic aspects of internal communication in practice and as such is ideal reading for both practitioners and advanced students. |Strategic Internal Communication A Practitioner’s Guide to Implementing Cutting-Edge Methods for Improved Workplace Culture | Business

The Right Way to Flourish Reconnecting to the Real...

In this ground-breaking book pre-eminent thought leader in the fields of sustainability and flourishing John R. Ehrenfeld critiques the concept of sustainability as it is understood today and which is coming more and more under attack as unclear and ineffective as a call for action. Building upon the recent work of cognitive scientist Iain Mc Gilchrist who argues that the human brain’s two hemispheres present distinct different worlds this book articulates how society must replace the current foundational left-brain-based beliefs – a mechanistic world and a human driven by self interest – with new ones based on complexity and care. Flourishing should replace the lifeless metrics now being used to guide business and government as well as individuals. Until we accept that our modern belief structure is itself the barrier we will continue to be mired in an endless succession of unsolved problems. |The Right Way to Flourish Reconnecting to the Real World | Business

Despite improvements in the last 20 years we still have a long way to go before all of our buildings places and spaces are easy and comfortable for all of us to use. This book puts forward a powerful case for a totally new attitude towards inclusivity and accessibility. Exploring both the social and the business cases for striving for better this book will empower architects to have more enlightened discussions with their clients about why we should be striving for better than the bare minimum and challenging the notion that inclusive design should be thought of reductively as simply a list of “special features” to be added to a final design or that inclusivity is only about wheelchair access. This book will be to help make inclusive design business as usual rather than something that is added on to address legislation at the end of the development process.
