Castelli designed the Free Speed 2 Race Top to shave precious seconds from your triathlon racing and training times. Castelli's Velocity Rev2 race fabric along the front provides a streamlined, body-hugging fit, along with exceptional breathability to prevent overheating in stifling summer conditions. Elastic shoulders add swimming and running comfort, seeing as both disciplines require additional mobility in the arms. Looking to the back panel, Velocity Mesh cuts down on drag in the bike stage, as proven by Castelli's own wind tunnel testing. Both fabrics sit alongside aerodynamic rear pockets for essential storage, but without adding drag in the water and air. Whether you wear it alone on a crisp autumn ride or under a few layers for a mid-winter commute, you'll want the Gore Wear Base Layer Thermo Turtleneck next to your skin. Its synthetic fabric wicks away moisture and moves it away from you to minimize chills. Thermo-stretch fabric moves as you do and the extended hem ensures coverage as you pedal so you don't have to worry about coverage. The 1/4-zip design lets you choose your coverage level, and the baselayer has a semi-fitted cut so it slides easily under your warmer layers.

As the snow clears off the street, the air is still crisp and cool, so we layer up with the BaaBaa Blend Long-Sleeve Baselayer. Its slim fit can be worn comfortably over or under our thermal bibs, and its technical composition keeps us comfortable before, during, and after our ride. Ultra-soft merino wool threads boost the synthetic lyocell's moisture-managing properties, and its odor resistance and temperature regulation ensure we feel fresh, even after a high-intensity ride.

The jersey features a full zipper to make getting in and out a breeze. The zipper finishes its route at the neck inside a zipper garage to minimize the likelihood of chafing. The neck itself is slightly scooped with no collar to lie flat whether running or riding, even when unzipped. The Vero Pro line uses stretchier fabrics with less compression than you find in the FR-C Pro garments. This change accommodates a wider range of body types and makes them easier to get into and out of. The short sleeves run nearly the length of upper arms, as material is faster than skin. That material, the front panels, shoulders, and sleeves are made of a stretchy, smooth microfiber that wicks well. The back is made of three-dimensional, woven, directional-stretch textile that is great at evaporating sweat, something that is nice on the ride and super on the run and is strong enough to prevent over-stuffed pockets from sagging. There are two top-access pockets that are deep enough for a vest and warmers, with a 5cm wide gripper elastic underneath to prevent the pockets from moving.
