Omnivore continues it s restoration and reissue of the mid- 60s Baltimore R&B/soul label Ru-Jac Records with True Enough-the first ever compilation of single sides by Washington D.C. s sensational soul duo Gene & Eddie. Also included are the rare sides by Sir Joe otherwise known as Joe Quarterman producer/songwriter/artist who produced and wrote many of the Gene & Eddie sides for Ru-Jac. Coming out of the very active east coast 60s soul scene Gene Eddie and Joe had been active in bands and recording from the early part of the decade. They formed or joined regional acts with names like The Nightcaps The Knights Don Downing The El Corols and The Maidens sharing stages with bigger national artists like Major Lance Garnet Mimms Joe Simon The Soul Children and The Emotions. For all their ambitions wider national success never found them and with only one local chart hit to their name It s So Hard they eventually all had to call it quits to pursue other endeavors. However these restored tracks give us a window into a time when east coast doo-wop met the soul explosion and got a little funky as it headed into the early 70s. Featuring rare photos and extensive liner notes this is the definitive musical history of Gene & Eddie and Sir Joe Quarterman-true enough!

Tease was formed in 1979 in California. When they performed in a talent show organized by Los Angeles radio station KACE they were discovered by record label RCA and they signed a record deal in 1983. At that time Tease consists of: Kipper Jones (lead vocals) Derek Organ (drums) Thommy Organ (guitar) Cornelius Sims (bass followed by Jay Shankin in 1986) Rex Salas (keyboards) and Joseph Parson (guitar). Chuckii Booker replaced Rex in 1986 and played the keys on their second album Tease . Their third album Remember was produced by James Mtume.

In the annals of Soul music history singer/songwriter/producer/entrepreneur/publisher/label owner George Kerr will always be considered an instrumental figure in the music s development. After a stint as a replacement for Little Anthony with the Imperials Kerr became a member of the Serenaders a New York based group. After an audition with Berry Gordy he relocated for a brief time to Detroit where he honed his skills as a songwriter and producer. Pairing a singer with a song had always been one of George s great talents. A case in point would be Linda Jones and the song Hypnotized that became a huge hit in the mid-1960 s or being the first producer to record a soul group (The Escorts) behind bars (all the members were in prison). Fearless and adventurous Kerr has remained a vital figure in soul music particularly in New Jersey (his home turf) with successes in every decade since he started out. Over the years the busy Mr. Kerr would find time to make his own solo albums which always reflected his love for great soul music. A case in point would be 1992 s Words of Love presented here newly remastered and finally available in the digital domain.
