This book explores an important moment in Italian women s theatre and cultural history: plays written for all-women casts between 1946 and the mid-1960s authored for the most part by women and performed exclusively by women. Because they featured only female roles they concentrated on aspects of specifically women s experience be it their spirituality their future lives as wives and mothers their present lives as workers or students or their relationships with friends sisters and mothers. Most often performed in a Catholic environment they were meant to both entertain and educate reflecting the specific issues that both performers and spectators had to confront in the years between the end of the war and the beginning of the economic miracle. --Page 4 of cover.

The main idea of the present study is to demonstrate that the qualitative theory of diffe- rential equations when applied to problems in fluid-and gasdynamics will contribute to the understanding of qualitative aspects of fluid flows in particular those concerned with geometrical properties of flow fields such as shape and stability of its streamline patterns. It is obvious that insight into the qualitative structure of flow fields is of great importance and appears as an ultimate aim of flow research. Qualitative insight fashions our know- ledge and serves as a good guide for further quantitative investigations. Moreover quali- tative information can become very useful especially when it is applied in close corres- pondence with numerical methods in order to interpret and value numerical results. A qualitative analysis may be crucial for the investigation of the flow in the neighbourhood of singularities where a numerical method is not reliable anymore due to discretisation er- rors being unacceptable. Up till now familiar research methods -frequently based on rigorous analyses careful nu- merical procedures and sophisticated experimental techniques -have increased considera- bly our qualitative knowledge of flows albeit that the information is often obtained indirectly by a process of a careful but cumbersome examination of quantitative data. In the past decade new methods are under development that yield the qualitative infor- mation more directly. These methods make use of the knowledge available in the qualitative theory of differen- tial equations and in the theory of bifurcations.

This book explains the sources of arsenic to paddy soils and the biogeochemical processes and plant physiological attributes of paddy soil-rice ecosystems that lead to high concentrations of arsenic in rice grain. It presents the global pattern of arsenic concentration and speciation in rice discusses human exposures to inorganic arsenic from rice and the resulting health risks. Progress in medical science and the deeping of physician experience in general make continuing education a fundamental obligation on the part of the practicing physician. Besides academies of advanced medical training we feel that medical schools and uni- versities offer a particularly good setting for continuing medical education. When the Hannover Medical School established West Germany s fIrst Department of Trauma Surgery in 1970 we committed ourselves to this goal and instituted the Hannover Trauma Seminars as a regional forum for continuing physician education. Made up almost entirely of our colleagues at the Trauma Surgery Clinic the basic goal of the seminars is to review new discoveries and techniques in the fIeld of traumatology and assess their practical relevance to the physician who treats trauma victims. In addition to research the experience ofthe Hannover School of Trauma Surgery form an important basis for seminar activities. The fIrst Trauma Seminar was held on February 2 1972. Initially copies ofthe proceed- ings were simply distributed to all interested participants. But as attendance grew and demand for the proceedings increased it became necessary to seek a broader form of publication. Henceforth the Hannover Trauma Seminars will be published as part of the Topics in Traumatology series. Der vorliegende Band bemüht sich darum die verschiedenen Ansätze der Forschung herauszuarbeiten.
