The admiration was mutual when Tommy Moustache and Sheep Got Waxed crossed paths at a festival in Denmark. Shortly after that these eccentric and unpredictable bands decided to join forces on stage resulting in an explosive and inflammable combination of two drummers two guitarists two sax players a bassist and a huge stack of electronics. The music of Rotterdam-based Tommy Moustache has been described by critics as propulsive mildly schizophrenic and heavily confusing alternative zap jazz. Sheep Got Waxed from Latvia conjured similar unique descriptions including a mix of techno footwork Death Grips kind of trap and George Michael played by early Beatles. But the music also contains free jazz and metal influences according to the band members who do not eschew complexity but who avoid unnecessary display of virtuosity.

UK collection. Texas-based Huey P. Meaux hit paydirt with Sir Doug s She s About A Mover in early 1965. The maverick producer immediately threw out a cattle call for the next bunch of teenage longhairs who could deliver him a hit. That didn t happen but over the next few years he amassed a litany of superb grass roots punk and Rock n Roll recordings spread across his Tribe Pacemaker Pic 1 Ventural Capri imprints and others. While there were occasional visitors from out-of-state: the bulk of Meaux s charges naturally hail from the motherlode of Texas ground zero for the raunchiest gnarliest 60 s punk. Mostly taped at his Pasadena Sounds facility quot;Don t Be Badquot; celebrates the Crazy Cajun s garage rock legacy. Extensive research into Huey Meaux s rarely tapped vault has resulted in a power-packed set list guaranteed to impress even the most hardened garage collector. Venezuelan born vocalist Hector Cabrera is known worldwide for his huge hit El Pajaro Chogui the legend of which can be traced to Cuba. The song started out as a regional hit in Venezuela but it wasn t until Hector Cabrera recorded it in Havana in the mid-1950 s that the song became a huge hit spreading to Mexico South America Europe and the US. This wonderful tune along with other great Hector Cabrera performances including songs by great Latin composers are featured here on this rare classic album. All selections newly remastered.

The historic organ of the St. Michaels Church in Bobenthal Palatinate is a unique work of art in several respects. The instrument was built in 1817 by the organ maker Wendelin Ubhaus (er) from Kirrweiler. In 1879 as part of the church renovation the organ was removed and stored by the Schlimbach company from Speyer. Actually there was a desire for a new instrument but this (luckily from today s perspective!) Failed for financial reasons; the old Ubhaus organ was repaired by Hermann Schlimbach and set up again. The organ case was originally untreated; today s color scheme dates from 1964. Some special features make the instrument a rarity not only in the rich Palatinate organ landscape: the pedal does not have a 16 voice but the manual is unusually completely expanded from the low C to f whereas the pedal has a (typical of the time) small amount of just over an octave (C-d). The disposition contains a quarter of string parts which may pay homage to both baroque traditions and a certain late classical sound ideal. The mixture contains a third chorus which enriches the overall sound magnificently. For a long time the organ was in shadow and increasingly desolate but luckily more than 90% of the original substance had been preserved. In 2016/17 at the initiative of some Bobenthal organ lovers the valuable and qualitatively remarkable historical instrument was subjected to a fundamental restoration by Johannes Rohlf (Neubulach) in which the old bellows pedal system was also restored and made usable again. In the 200th year of it s existence the organ shines in old splendor and new sound freshness.
