It is a perennial tropical plant.This variety has a green stem and dark green thick fleshy leaves. In cooler areas it will not overwinter but will produce a good harvest as an annual. It is also called Basella or alugbati in the Philippines. Prepare fertile well-drained soil. Avoid clay soils. Sow seeds in late spring/early summer (soil temp at least 60°F) in a warm and sunny location or start seeds inside 6 weeks before last frost date (or 8 weeks before expected transplanting date). Cauliflower is ready to be harvested when the flower shoots are fully formed and sturdy. Unlike the prolific and vining pole bean bush bean matures at about 18-24 inches tall and does not require trellis and support. Kagranger Sommer butterhead lettuce has a mild and buttery flavor. It originates from Germany and is slow bolting. Heads are light green and medium sized. They grow to be 5-10” tall. Seeds can be sown indoors or directly ½” deep in fertile and sandy soil. After 15 days transplant or thin seedlings to be 12” apart in rows 18” apart in full sun. Plant in the spring or fall. Witloof Chicory is a Belgian variety that is great for home gardening. Plants grow 12-18” tall and produce light to medium green leaves. Sow seeds directly outside ½” deep and 1” apart in full sun. After 4 weeks thin seedlings to be 6-12” apart. Leaves have the best flavor when grown in cooler temperatures so aim for fall or spring harvest. After 55-1115 days plants should reach full size and are ready to be harvested. Leaves have mildly acidic but sweet flavor. They are ideal for salads and taste great when cooked as well.

Plants have dark green leaves with purple stems and blossoms are a red-purple color and become a light pink-purple color when they have fully flowered. Plants grow 2-3’ tall. Long: Sumter cucumbers are great to grow in the spring in a home garden in most zones of the US. They are mildew and scab resistant. Fruits have medium green skin and white spines. After 50-65 days cucumbers should be ready for harvest when they have reached full size. After harvest cucumbers are firm and non bitter.
