Keep your jointer and planer knives razor sharp and knick-free without ever removing them from the cutterhead! Simply unplug your machine, lock the cutterhead in position, align the 4" hone on the knife edge and with a few quick strokes you're back to cutting. Aluminum oxide hone has 180 and 400 grit surfaces and should be lubricated with oil prior to use. Not recommended for portable planers with disposable knives. This means the stone is thinner and lighter which translates into it's easier to take on the road with you. We found this stone to be just the thing for preliminary shaping, beveling chisels and plane blades, sharpening knives, and touching up turning tools. The 400 Grit side removes material quickly, while the 1200 Grit side can be used to refineand touch up the edge. At about 6.25 oz., our WoodRiver 6" x 2-3/8" Diamond Stone is a handy size for toolbox, backpack or benchtop. 400-grit side will make short work of small nicks and create the basic edge.
